Failure is Part of Success

October 30, 2023

Some of the most successful individuals and businesses in history have had incredible failures.Take Walt Disney for example. He was fired from a newspaper job because he "lacked creativity." Early on his film company nearly went bankrupt on multiple occasions. Disneyland and Disney World faced significant challenges before opening.Ever seen Pocahontas 2? How about Aladdin 3? Operation Dumbo Drop? Herbie Goes Bananas? Probably not. But I bet you've seen The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, and Snow White. Not every Disney film is a smash hit. In fact, many of the early films Walt Disney produced weren't massive hits. Did he stop? Nope. He kept trying. Our culture is scared of failure. Every kid gets a trophy, everyone gets an award. Leaders understand that the response to failure is key to success. Don't meditate on the failure. Evaluate the situation, learn from it, apply it and move on.If Walt Disney had stopped after a few failures, we would never have seen Disney World. You will encounter failure when you try and do something big. Don't give up, or else the world may miss your Disney World.
